Des Moines County Contacts

This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release status, release anyone, post bond, pull records, or provide an official booking record. Contact the responsible agency directly for those services.

Official Records Contacts

The Des Moines County Sheriff's Office records unit is at 512 N. Main St., Burlington, IA 52601. Call 319-753-8212, fax 319-754-6910, or email so-clerical@dmcounty.com. The general sheriff email is dmcsheriff@dmcounty.com. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except holidays. Incident and accident reports also route to the records line. Requests may be anonymous, and the county's form is optional.

For an immediate jail-custody question, call the Des Moines County Correctional Center at 319-753-8275. The jail is at 3630 Bauer Drive, Burlington, IA 52601. Do not send sheriff-office visitors to the jail or use the county government's separate 513 N. Main St. address. These are distinct offices.

Choose the office based on the record or custody stage:

  • For a booking record or photo, use the focused Sheriff's Office request steps on the home page. Release of any image remains record-specific.
  • For a possible Des Moines County warrant, follow the official sheriff, court, and counsel routes on Sheriff's Most Wanted.
  • For a Burlington police report, contact Burlington Police at 201 Jefferson Street, call 319-753-8366, or call records and administration at 319-753-8355. The regional non-emergency line is 319-671-7001.
  • For West Burlington Police records, use 122 Broadway Street or 319-754-8555, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The non-emergency line is 319-671-7001.
  • Mediapolis has no municipal police department. Direct Mediapolis law-enforcement and records questions to the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office.
  • For current local custody or a release alert, call the Correctional Center or use IowaVINE. The county does not publish a public web roster.
  • For the case outcome, search Iowa Courts Online and confirm the Des Moines County case with the Clerk of Court.
  • For a sentenced or supervised state offender, use the Iowa Department of Corrections offender search or the IDOC open-records channel.
  • For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE detainee locator. Those locators do not provide county booking photos.

The sheriff ordinarily processes a focused public-record request within ten business days. The first 30 minutes of staff time are free, with actual staff and material costs after that. The office may provide an estimate or request prepayment. Those terms do not guarantee that a booking photo exists or is releasable.
